Patriotic Pinwheel Decorations

You can hang these patriotic pinwheel decorations on your cabinets starting with Memorial Day (May 27th) and keep them hanging through Flag Day (June 14th), Independence Day (July 4th), and Labor Day (September 2nd).

Supplies:

  • Patriotic Pinwheels (discards sticks)
  • 1/2-inch-wide Ribbon
  • Command Mini Clear Hooks
  • Hole punch

Directions:

  1. At the top of one point of the pinwheel, punch a hole. (This is what the ribbon will go through.)
  2. Measure from the top of the cabinet door to how far you want the pinwheel to hang, double the measurement, and add six inches. This is how long you will cut each piece of ribbon.
  3. Secure a hook on the inside of the door, approximately three inches from the top. (Make sure the hook is facing downward.)
  4. Pull the ribbon through the hole of the pinwheel, until both ends of the ribbon are even.
  5. Cut a small slit in the middle of both pieces of ribbon, about an inch from the end.
  6. Insert the slit into the hook, swing over the top of the door and let the pinwheel hang on the front of the cabinet door.
  7. Secure each pinwheel with a pinch of museum putty so they don’t move when you open the door.
