Expecting a Different Ending

We love good books, movies, short stories, poems, and jokes. Good plot twists aren’t the ones that are wild left turns out of nowhere. Good plot twists are the ones that make all the other little things that didn’t quite add up before suddenly “click.”

Good plot twists shouldn’t be “I didn’t see that coming” rather “I should have seen that coming.”

Here are a few examples:

ONE

My husband wanted to give me a special birthday present one year. He gave me one dart and a world map. “Throw it and wherever it lands we will go on vacation,” he said. I took the dart and aimed it toward Iceland, a bucket list destination. Well, my aim wasn’t on point. Looks like we’ll spend our vacation behind the fridge.

TWO

Sorry, but I need to vent! I experienced the worst customer service the other day at a store in town. I don’t want to mention the name of the store because I’m not sure how I’m going to proceed. Friday evening I bought something from this store. I paid cash for it. I took it home and found out it didn’t work. So yesterday, less than 24 hours later, I took it back to the store and asked if I could get a refund. The girl in the store told me NO even though I still had the receipt. I asked if I could get a replacement instead then. Again, this person told me “NO.” I asked to talk to a manager. I explained that I had just bought the item, got it home and it didn’t work. The manager just smiled and told me to my face that I was “OUT OF LUCK.” No refund. No FREE replacement. Nothing. I’ll tell you what…I am NEVER buying another Lottery Ticket from there again!

THREE

A lovely little girl was holding two apples with both hands. Her mom softly asked her daughter with a smile, “My sweetie, could you give your mom one of your two apples?” The girl looked up at her mom for a few seconds, then she suddenly took a quick bite out of one apple, and then quickly out of the other. The mom felt the smile on her face freeze. She tried hard not to reveal her disappointment. Then the little girl handed one of her bitten apples to her mom, and said, “Mommy, here you are. This is the sweeter one.”
